Five films nominated for Imad Mughniyeh section of RIFF

Iran's Resistance International Film Festival (RIFF) announces the names of five foreign films set to vie at Imad Mughniyeh section of the festival.

Iran's Resistance International Film Festival (RIFF) has announced the names of five foreign films set to compete at Imad Mughniyeh section of the festival.

Five foreign films, including two feature films and three documentaries, were selected to compete at the section of Imad Mughniyeh of the 15th edition of RIFF.

The documentaries were identified as 'Hashd al-Sha'abi' made by the media directorate of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Units (also known as Hashd al-Sha’abi), 'Mosul Between War and Peace' directed by Anastasia Trofimova and 'Aleppo Earthquake' by Aleksander Kharchenko.

'Father' directed by Basil al-Khatib from Syria and another feature film by Syrian prominent director Najdat Anzour were also official selections.

Earlier, 15 Iranian documentary films have been nominated to compete at this section. However, no Iranian feature film was selected to take part in it.

The section is named after Hezbollah's late commander Imad Mughniyeh, who was killed in an Israeli-orchestrated bombing back in the Syrian capital, Damascus, in 2008.

The 15th edition of the festival is set to be held in Tehran on November 26-30.

The RIFF, one of the most prestigious international film festivals in Iran, is dedicated to productions on wars and the repercussions of armed conflicts in the world.

It also puts a spotlight on the resistance of the Palestinian people against the Zionist regime, Daesh and their terrorist attacks in the region, and the world’s tyrants and their backing of Daesh.
